Lotus Photos: A Few from the March Tyre Kick & Coffee

March Tyre Kick & Coffee

On the third Sunday of each month we get together to kick tyres, catch up and enjoy a coffee in Gough Whitlam Park in Tempe. Sunday the 20th of March was one such day, so that’s what we did! Read on for a few words and photos from Ashton.

Considering the weather forecast (and subsequent arrival of said weather) we were really lucky with how our morning turned out!

It was lovely to see Ken with his Plus 2, Trevor in his sparkling Evora and George in his, unbelievably, nearly 9 year old Elise S2. It was great fun to line up my Elan with Daniel’s MX5 and see just how tiny it really is! And the artist in me managed to get the cars to colour alternate 🙂

Shame the Subaru wouldn’t move, but at least he was colour co-ordinated!

The evening will kick off from 6:30PM at Simply Sports Cars in Artarmon. Please come along and join us for a relaxed social evening at SSC’s showrooms at 17 Hotham Parade, Artarmon.

Upcoming Motorsport Events: March 2016

With 2016’s Club motorsport season well under way, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy driving your Lotus in the manner for which it was designed. Read on for all the news on what’s coming up.

Round 2 of the CSCA Series is to be held next weekend, on Sunday the 13th of March at Sydney Motorsport Park. It will be hosted by the MG Car Club and entries are open now on CAMS Motor Event Entry. Get your entry in and come along for a run!

On Good Friday, the 25th of March, our friends in the Sprite Club are running a Supersprint at Marulan Driver Training Centre. This event which will see Sprites and Midgets from all over Australia competing.

As MDTC does not currently have a dorian timing loop, we will be using manual timing. So, if super accurate timing is important to you, this may not be the right event for you! Instead, we plan on running a relaxed day with the focus on first time competitors. This is an ideal opportunity for many of us to run at this track for the first time.

The entry cost will be $165 and we are running under a CAMS permit with medical and fire services.

Finally, the Australian Supersprint Championships are going to be held in conjunction with Round 3 of the MSCA Championship, which many of our cousins in Victoria enjoy, on the 23rd & 24th of April.

This is a two day event which, considering it is being held at Winton Raceway, makes the travel well worth the effort. Entry is via www.meecamsau.com and the attached flyer should give you some of the details to wet the appetite.

Please Support the Shoalhaven Motorsport Complex

Shoalhaven Motorsport Complex

Motorcycling NSW has been working on the Shoalhaven Motorsport Complex over the last few years and making steady progress. They’ve now submitted a development application, and it needs our support!

The Shoalhaven Motorsport Complex will provide a multi-faceted motorsport facility to support motorsport competition, driver and rider training and community projects in New South Wales.

With the loss of Amaroo Park and Oran Park, New South Wales’ existing motorsport venues, basically Sydney Motorsport Park and Wakefield Park at this point, have taken on the significant demand of NSW’s motorsport needs. This has resulted in limited track availability, rising venue hire costs for promoters and ultimately higher costs for competitors and enthusiasts, and fewer options for safe and controlled competition.

The Shoalhaven Motorsport Complex has been progressing well and the team have now submitted the Shoalhaven Motorsport Complex Development Application and received notice that it has now been formally presented in public exhibition.

At the conclusion of this exhibition there will be a determination as to whether the project can proceed. There is a $9.5 million grant reliant on the outcome of this application.

Shoalhaven City Council requires written submissions to be made by close of business on the 28th of March, 2016. Submissions can be made via the following avenues:

Email: [email protected]

Online: Shoalhaven City Council website (www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au), click on “DA Tracking” on the right hand side of the front page, enter RA14/1000 – click on show, scroll all the way down the page to the “contact us about this application” button. You will also see all the submitted project information here.

Post: General Manager, Shoalhaven City Council, PO Box 42 Nowra NSW 2541

For more information on the Shoalhaven Motorsport Complex hit their website here. And if you need any assistance, please do contact them as they are more than happy to help.

This is an opportunity to support not only this project, but motorsport in New South Wales and our wonderful community. We wish the team all the best!
