On Sunday, the 14th of November 2021, our friends in the LOST Fraternity crew took a run to Awaba for coffee, breakfast and a catch-up. Scroll along and enjoy a few photos from the day thanks to Jack McLaughlin.

The LOST Fratenity (Lotus or Similar Thoroughbreds) catch up once or twice a month for a run and a social get together around the Central Coast. This month they went to Three Bears Cafe in the Museum of Art and Culture Lake Macquarie. If you’re interested in getting involved, send Seth an email and he’ll put you in touch.

Lotus Photos: October 2021’s Return to Tyre Kicking

October 2021 CLA Tyre Kick & Coffee

On Sunday the 17th of October, 2021, with vaccinations in place and Sydney slowly returning to life, we ventured out, bleary eyed, into the outside world, meeting in the car park above By the Bay Cafe in Carss Park to kick tyres, caffeinate and catch up after many months of COVID-19 lockdown.

With our usual third Sunday of the month location yet to be roused, we took the trip south to By the Bay Cafe in Carss Park. A friendly crew braved the post-apocalyptic unknowns to spend a relaxed Sunday morning chatting in pleasant spring sunshine surrounded by a comprehensive collection of Lotus cars.

Next month, with more vaccination targets hit and freedoms opened up, we’ll return to our regularly scheduled programme. On Sunday the 14th of November we’ll meet at Carss Park from 8:30am, and all being well we’ll head to Kokoda Cafe in Rhodes Park on Sunday the 21st from 9:30am. Come along and say ‘Hi!’

Classic and Historic Vehicle Registration During COVID-19

Club Lotus February 2021 Tyre Kick South

The Council of Motor Clubs recently shared with us a Transport NSW update on classic and historic vehicle registration during COVID-19. It’s available for download from their website at this link.

The document outlines systems that have been put in place to support those on conditional registration while we’re unable to manage it in person. Topics include what to do if your registration has expired or if your classic or historic vehicle is your only form of transport, how to renew your classic or historic vehicle registration if it has expired, how you can pay your registration once restrictions ease and information about your registration date and plates.

If you’re on historic or classic registration, it’s well worth a read – particularly if your renewal date falls between the 28th of June and 31st of October, 2021. Grab it from the CMC website at this link.

Ashton’s President’s Prattle for September, 2021

LOTUS

Yes, it’s already September. And the elephant in the room is that September is likely to be more of the same for the majority of us, so my thoughts are with you all.

This month’s column is therefore more of a musing than usual, as we continue to learn how to navigate uncertain waters individually and collectively.

HSCC’s 2021 Baskerville Historics on for September 17 – 19

For our Tasmanian friends, or those of us with more freedom to move, the Hobart Sporting Car Club’s Baskerville Historics historic race meeting is back for 2021 after the pandemic resulted in the cancellation of 2020’s event.

The meeting will run at Baskerville Raceway from Friday the 17th of September to Sunday the 19th, featuring practice, qualifying, racing and a grid walk on Sunday at lunchtime.

Feature events include the Muscle Car  Cup, which will bring pre-EH Holdens to the event from around the country. A special race will be held for small Ford Group N cars, including Escorts, Cortinas, Anglias and Capris, and a variety of local categories will feature at the event.

For more information, see the HSCC’s website here, and make sure to follow them on Facebook. For general or competitor enquiries about the Historics meeting, email [email protected] or call 6224 4134 for general enquiries.
