Thanks to Steve Grobler
We caught up with WA shepherd Steve Grobler recently, who shared a little of what our Western Australian members have been up to. Scroll on, and enjoy.
WA Tyre Kick, 5 June 2022
Our first WA Tyre kick was held at City Beach on 5 June. It was a cold but clear morning and we had 6 cars in attendance – a mix of Elises, Exiges and an Esprit V8.
Many thanks to those that came out for a friendly chat and a coffee.
Unfortunately we clashed with Perth’s Coffee and Cars event and it was a public holiday weekend – so timing was not ideal. Next time we’ll be sure not to clash with other events or public holidays!
There are many Esprits, Excels, Europas and Elans hibernating in the garages of Perth and we hope to entice some of them out to future events.
British Car Day held at Gingin on 15 May 2022
The annual British Car Day at Gingin is one of the biggest motoring events on the WA calendar, with enormous numbers of magnificent British cars on display. Jaguar and MG are probably the most well represented with literally dozens and dozens of examples on show.
About a dozen Lotus cars attended. Some of the more unusual Lotus cars included Dave M’s brand new Lotus Exige Sport 420 Final Edition, with less than 150km on the clock, and long-time Club Lotus member Andrew J’s 1966 Elan, brought up on a trailer from Albany – it’s still his daily (and favourite) drive.
