Simply Sports Cars’ second Lotus-Only Track Day for 2018 was held at Wakefield Park on Saturday the 14th of July, bringing some 70 Lotuses out to play for a magic day of winter motorsport.
For many of us the event kicked off on Friday night, when we got together in Goulburn to celebrate Mike Basquil’s birthday. Mike’s contribution to this club, and in particular its motorsport, is immeasurable and we were very grateful to be able to share the milestone with him. Thanks to Syd Reinhardt for organising the evening.
New South Wales is enduring a cold snap at the moment, which provided quite the wake up call when the sun rose over Goulburn on Saturday morning and we stepped out into sub zero temperatures. Once we’d wiped the frost off the cars and got some much needed coffee pumping around our systems, the cold was quickly forgotten and all set about happy trackside rituals preparing cars and catching up with friends.
As the sun rose so did the temperatures and we settled into perfect conditions for motorsport. With Drive, Sprint and Race sessions, Lotus-Only Track Days cater for all levels of skill, experience and competitive leaning and we were pleased to catch up with such a great group at the track. While our seasoned sprint crew set about familiar games of cat and mouse, less competitive or experienced drivers were having just as much fun in the Drive sessions. The broad appeal and social aspect makes LOTD sessions particularly special.
