The Jaguar Drivers Club of Australia will hold its annual Mountain Rally over the 27th and 28th of May this year, and it’s looking like an absolute blast.

Billed as ‘Highlands to Tablelands’, the event will travel through Mittagong, Goulburn and Yass before moving back through Goulburn to finish in Sutton Forest.

The Mountain Rally Highlands to Tablelands Primer

The Mountain Rally is an event which every sporting driver should enter at least once…and for many of us it’s an event which should be entered at every opportunity! Our cars can handle day to day commuter driving just fine, but what they LOVE is running around the beautiful sweeping roads of the NSW back blocks and THAT’s Mountain Rally territory.

That’s not to suggest that speed is involved, the route is organised so that excessive pace isn’t needed, nor are navigational skills. It’s an event which needs driver and navigator in equal importance…the co-driver reads the course, directing the driver who also looks for landmarks as answers to a simple quiz. It’s planned as a “Goldilocks” event, not too easy nor too hard, resulting in stories being swapped as we re-meet over lunch and dinner. For lunch you can’t beat local pumpkin soup, sandwiches, cakes and hot tea after what is always an interesting drive with breathtaking scenery. The dinner is always a great event full of embellished tales which gain credence as the wine glasses disappear.

Who to take? Take a mate, wife, daughter, son…perhaps even someone you’d like to know better. The combination of driver/navigator is a moveable feast, however many first-timers have finished well, so prior knowledge is not needed.

This year the Mountain Rally will run on the weekend of 27th and 28th May. “Highlands to Tablelands” will take us south through Mittagong, Goulburn, Yass (overnight), back through Goulburn to finish mid afternoon in Sutton Forest. What a drive! Fabulous scenery and great roads.

The Mountain Rally has been running since 1991 and is part of the DNA of the JDCA. It’s not just a drive, it’s a little adventure with a little bit of party and we all need some of that.
